Reverse osmosis water purifiers are the most effective  and widely used purification system. In this water is forced through a semi premeable membrane which removes the total dissolved solids such as solids, salts and heavy impurities. The waste water containing contaminants is flushed out.

Ultraviolet (UV) Water Purifiers

These water purifiers use UV radiation to kill bacteria, viruses and other harmful microorganisms in water. In this the water passes through a chamber containing UV lamp. The UV rays kill the pathogens and renders the water pure.

Ultrafiltration water purifier

UF purifiers use a membrane similar to RO but the membrane pores are a little large. They are effective in removing bacteria, cysts and suspended solids. They are suitable for first stage of filtration of river waters, lakes and such

Activated carbon water filters- In this water is passed through a carbon block helping in removal of chlorine, organic contaminants and pesticides

Ion Exchange water purifiers–Ion exchange purifiers, also known as water softeners, are used to remove hardness from water caused by excessive calcium and magnesium.
